It is the silence and the stillness of a captured moment that intrigues me, and it is in pursuit of these moments that I choose photography as my medium of expression. I am drawn to the essential qualities of photographic practice, to the impossibility of captured time and space as well as to the shared experience of our memories, and of our moments. My interest in the medium was forged in a high school darkroom as a teenager, and later, during my undergraduate studies, I learned to shoot tonally and print in archival quality. As digital photography's capabilities became harder and harder to ignore, I felt uncertain about the future of analog photography, but now I feel privileged to be working at what I feel is but the precipice of yet another evolution in this still-young medium, and I anticipate the challenge of adapting to and embracing future innovations, and incorporating them into my creative process. As a photographer, I focus upon the interpersonal relationships of those around me, seeking to capture the fleeting moments that unite us. As I attempt to process my perception of life and the world I inhabit, I'm fascinated with the role photography will play in history's record of the present.
