I am trying to comment on man's impermanence in this world. How the universe can take even our strongest creations and crush them to dust. We are so small and yet we think of ourselves as so big. Civilization seems to pat itself on the back for all that it's done to nature. When I think of civilized, it is something that compliments and doesn't destroy. I think we are quickly approaching a time when we will find out the error in our ways. This series uses digital photos of corrosion such as rust, cracks, mold, ect. Layers of photos build up into a rich tapestry of textures. Modern landscape elements are used in the forms of buildings, power lines, oil refineries, and other man made fingerprints to the scenery. Photoshop manipulations and airbrushing lend painterly qualities such as drips and scratches to the images. These are constructions of deconstructions. |
